Dual pricing POS

How Dual Pricing Works

Dual pricing gives guests a clear cash price and card price. For high-volume bars and nightclubs, it can move qualified processing cost off the statement and turn payment strategy into a hardware and operating advantage.

The upside

At serious card volume, processing fees become large enough to fund terminals, printers, handhelds, KDS screens, tap pucks, installation, and training. That is why the hardware conversation and the dual pricing conversation belong together.

The tradeoffs

  • Guests need clear signage and receipt language.
  • Staff need simple talking points so the program does not feel confusing.
  • State rules, card-brand requirements, underwriting, and final program structure matter.
  • If a venue does not want dual pricing, Union can still be quoted, but hardware is separate.

Why it matters for high-volume venues

A $500K or $1M/month operation has a different payment-cost problem than a small restaurant. Dual pricing deserves a real operator conversation, not a footnote.
